Problems with rodents around the house
Why Do We Get Rodents
Why do we get rodent problems in and around the house, this is a question I get asked a lot, especially by customers that don’t even have pets of any kind.
One reason is that a neighbour could have a problem in their home with rats or mice and this can lead to other surrounding homes to start getting problems.
The reason for this is because rats and mice will roam around, they don’t just stay in the one spot, so when they are more active, which is generally in the late evening and night, they start to look for food.
Now a house in your suburb could have started the problem because they may have chickens for instance, or they aren’t keeping their home in a clean and orderly state.
People that have chickens generally will have a rodent problem at some point; this is because of the food being put down for the chickens to eat, like grains and scraps from the families meals.
So How To Control Rats And Mice.
The way to help keep the numbers down of a rat or mice problem is to be consistent with baiting control.
Baits will need to be placed in areas where rodents roam looking for food; they can’t be placed out in the open, bait stations need to be placed up against a wall, if using a trap then this can be placed in the open with some food inside to attract the rodents inside.
Also the area where there is a problem needs to be kept as clean as possible, obviously if you have chickens this is going to be very difficult, but it is something that will need to be done on a regular basis if you want to help try and control rat and mice numbers around your home.
Why use professional pest Control Company
It’s best to contact a pest control company to get rid of rats and mice because they will know where to properly place bait stations, and also have a better understanding of why you are having a problem with rats or mice.
A licensed pest controller will also be able to determine where they are nesting; this is an important step in controlling a problem of this kind.
Baits can also be dangerous for animals and young children if swallowed, so it’s best they are placed in strong durable lockable bait stations, that can’t be opened without a key.
Get the job done right the first time and use a professional to rid your home of rodents.
