Female redback long legs and large bulous abdomen, the male redback is much smaller than the female, both have a black body and a red stripe on the dorsal surface, the female is 12-15 mm and the male 3-4 mm.

Makes a loose webb in rubbish, unsewered toilets or under houses, it is the female to watch out for she has a bite that is toxic and can be painful. the bite area can have swelling but you may not see the actual bite marks, can cause nausea and vomiting. If you are bitten by a redback try not to panic i know everyone says this, but you should just put a bandage on the bite mark and seek madical advice.
